Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017

On February 3, 2017, Senator Pat Toomey introduced Senate Bill S 305 declaring March 29th to be National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The bill passed without ammendment by Unanimous Consent. The bill was sent to the House of Representatives and was passed by voice vote on March 21, 2017. The bill was presented to the President on March 23rd and was signed into law on March 28, 2017.

Henceforth, March 29th is designated National Vietnam War Veterans Day and is to be observed by encouraging people to fly the U.S. Flag on that date each year.

An Act

To amend title 4, United States Code, to encourage the display of the flag of the United States on National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the “Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017”.

SEC. 2. DISPLAY OF FLAG ON NATIONAL VIETNAM WAR VETERANS DAY.

Section 6(d) of title 4, United States Code, is amended by inserting “National Vietnam War Veterans Day, March 29;” after “third Monday in February;”.
